The Kambo Frog
Ancient Medicine for Modern Reset & Renewal
WHAT IS KAMBO?
Kambo is a natural secretion from the Amazonian giant waxy tree frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor). For generations, Indigenous tribes have worked with Kambo as “Hunting Magic”—a sacred tool to cleanse the body, sharpen the senses, and strengthen both body and spirit.
Today, people all over the world are turning to Kambo for its remarkable effects on both physical and emotional well-being. The secretion contains a complex blend of bioactive peptides and neuropeptides, which can:
Support and regulate the immune, nervous, and cardiovascular systems
Stimulate natural detoxification and cleansing
Boost energy, stamina, and mental clarity
Reduce pain and inflammation (with studies suggesting analgesic effects stronger than morphine, without addictive properties)
Help release emotional and energetic blockages
Many people describe Kambo as a reset for the body, mind, and spirit. It is often sought out by those navigating:
Autoimmune disorders, such as Lyme disease
Depression, anxiety, or PTSD
Chronic pain or fatigue
A desire for greater clarity, connection, and vitality
Kambo is not considered a “medicine” in Western terms, but countless people have found it to be profoundly therapeutic. Some call it a deep cleanse. Others describe it as reconnecting with life’s essence.
As a practitioner, I serve the Austin, Texas community by offering Kambo in a safe, grounded, and respectful way. Each session is held with care, honoring both the ancient tradition and your personal healing journey.
What is Hapé (Rapé/Rapeh)
Hapé—also known as rapé, rapéh, or rume in Yawanawá tradition—is a sacred ceremonial snuff with deep roots in the indigenous cultures of the Amazon basin. For thousands of years, it has been used as a spiritual and medicinal tool, woven into tribal life, prayer, and cultural continuity.
Prepared with great care, hapé is made from finely ground tobacco blended with ash from sacred trees and, in some traditions, additional medicinal herbs. Each blend is intentionally crafted, with the preparation itself regarded as ceremonial. Prayers are offered and intentions are set, honoring tobacco not as a habit-forming substance, but as a powerful plant ally and teacher.
In many Amazonian lineages, tobacco is approached with reverence for its protective and clearing qualities. Shamans and elders often undertake a tobacco dieta—a prolonged period of intentional relationship with the plant—to deepen their connection to its spirit and teachings. This traditional understanding stands in contrast to modern Western associations with tobacco, which are shaped largely by cigarettes and industrial additives that obscure the plant’s original sacred role.
Hapé is traditionally administered through the nostrils using a kuripé for self-application or a tepi when served by another. While the delivery can feel intense—especially for first-time users—it is designed to support grounding, clarity, and presence. The experience is often described as quieting mental chatter, clearing mental fog, and helping the nervous system return to balance.
Many people work with hapé to release stagnant or distracting energies, enhance focus and awareness, and support emotional and energetic realignment. It is also known for clearing the sinuses and promoting a deeply embodied, centered state. Depending on the blend, hapé may be used ceremonially to support harmony in digestion, skin health, creativity, and overall energetic balance. In some cases, its effects may include a mild purgative response, traditionally understood as part of a cleansing process.
Hapé is not a casual substance, but a purposeful ceremonial tool—one that invites intention, respect, and conscious engagement. When approached in this way, it serves as a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern practice, offering grounding, clarity, and reconnection.
Ethically sourced Yawanawá hapé, imported directly from the tribe, is available for those who feel called to work with this medicine.
